Yes, Yes, Yes, we are back! It’s time for all us windsurfers to meet up with friends old and new. From near and far, to have some fun on and off the water. Let’s find out who has used the last two years to improve their wave sailing and who has not. It’s time to find out…………….. MAYO MAYHEM 2021 IS ON!
Mayo Mayhem 2021 will take place on Achill Island, Co Mayo, Ireland between September 24th to 26th (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). The decision to run this weekend will be made on Wednesday September 22n If there are no contestable conditions this weekend we will roll over to the Next Windy Weekend (Saturday’s and Sunday’s only ) The decision to run the event will be made on a Thursday for a Saturday competition. This year we will have 2 fleets, Pros and Amateurs. We hope to have two days of competition and one day free to do an expression session / instruction session. The event headquarters will be based at Keel, Achill Island with the option to compete on any one of Mayo’s finest beaches from Louisburg to Belmullet. We will choose the best location that can provide the best wave sailing conditions on the day.
With such a variety of epic beaches to choose from, there is a strong possibility of competing in both Port and Starboard conditions over the weekend. First time competitors are very welcome to this event. If you ever thought about competing but just haven’t taken that leap then this is the event for you. If you can water start, gybe (sometimes) and get the odd jump in, then you are well capable of signing up for this event.
We will have lots of experienced competitors available to mentor first timers on the day of competition and available for any advice over the weekend. We are looking forward to seeing lots of new and old friends from Ireland and abroad windsurfing and partying together later this year. We hope the event will produce its own legends on and off the water. For more information check out our Facebook page Mayo MayhemTo book your place just click on this link –
